Booking Terms and Conditions

CANCELLATION POLICY

  • Bookings cancelled up to 28 days of the day of arrival are not subject to a cancellation fee and receive a full refund.
  • Bookings cancelled up to 14 days of the day of arrival are subject to a cancellation fee of one night’s accommodation.
  • Bookings cancelled within 14 days of the day of arrival will be charged the full amount.
  • Bookings cancelled due to being unable to transport you to the island, due to weather will receive a full refund.
  • Reservation dates can be changed up to 14 days of the day of check in but changing dates are subject to availability and rate change during peak periods.
  • In the case of a no-show, the full amount will be charged for each room booked.

HOST CANCELLATION:

Sipper Island Resort Hosts may need to cancel before your experience due to safety concerns. If this happens then you will get a refund for the monetary amount you have paid to Slipper Island Resort, and you can rebook the experience if you want. (Refunds can take up to 14 business days to process).

Personal expenses incurred- house sitting, vehicle rental, vehicle expenses, boarding kennels, cattery, all flights, alternative accommodation, and loss of income will not be financially reimbursed by Slipper Island Resort in the event of cancellation or postponement.

  • Any other costs incurred (e.g., missed flights, additional flights) will not be covered and we recommend you have comprehensive travel insurance.

COVID-19:

All guests are advised to follow the recommendations of the Ministry of Health in relation to COVID, which is to stay at home if they are feeling unwell or displaying the symptoms of the virus.

Maintain physical distancing.

Wash or sanitise your hands regularly.

Our housekeeping team uses industrial disinfectant sprays, sanitisers.

COVID-19 CANCELLATION FOR RESERVATIONS PROCESSED EFFECTIVE FROM 13/07 2022.

For reservations that cannot proceed due to NZ Government Protection Framework:

If there is a government mandate (lockdown) preventing, you from travelling to or from your local area / region:

Slipper Island Resort will hold the monies paid towards your affected reservation in our guest account for 12 months from the date of cancellation.

Your new reservation dates will need to be within the 12 months of the date of cancellation.

Refunds for COVID-19 pandemic are no longer covered.

COVID-19 CANCELLATION FOR RESERVATIONS PROCESSED EFFECTIVE FROM 13/07 2022.

If you are confirmed positive with Covid-19:

All remaining monies paid towards your affected reservation are held in our guest account for 6 months from the date of cancellation.

Your new reservation dates will need to be within 6 months of the date of cancellation.

In the case of a cancellation request for Covid-19 related amendment on personal grounds, guests may be requested to provide a medical certificate to confirm the medical grounds on which the request is based.

Rebooked dates are subject to availability, tariff changes and minimum stays. If you are not able to advise your new dates within the time allocated for your cancellation, as outlined above, then your credit will be lost.

All rebooked reservations under this policy are non-refundable if cancelled again (subject to management discretion on a case-by-case basis).

Please note this policy does not cover cancelled events or any other parties in your group wanting to cancel.

Refunds for COVID-19 pandemic are no longer covered.

COVID-19 HOSTS CANCELLATION -APPLIES TO ALL RESERVATIONS:

In the event Slipper Island Resort Host/s are confirmed positive with Covid-19 then you will get a refund for the monetary amount you have paid to Slipper Island Resort, and you can rebook the experience if you want. (Refunds can take up to 14 business days to process).

  • Personal expenses incurred- house sitting, vehicle rental, vehicle expenses, boarding kennels, cattery, all flights, alternative accommodation, and loss of income will not be financially reimbursed by Slipper Island Resort in the event of cancellation or postponement.
  • Any other costs incurred (e.g., missed flights, additional flights) will not be covered and we recommend you have comprehensive travel insurance.

CHECK IN / CHECK OUT POLICY:

Check-in : 10.30 a.m.

Check- out :9.45 a.m.

Check-in and check-out request time. The final decision remains the responsibility of Slipper Island Resort Management.

Check in and check out time is dependent on tidal times, wave height, wind strength.

Please be mindful that we are at the mercy of the sea. Slipper Island Resort is in the Pacific Ocean 4.80 kilometres from the mainland. Sea conditions may force your period of stay to be cancelled or deferred or postponed.

Slipper Island Resort Commercial Vessel Transfer Confirmation is emailed to the client who has made the booking two days prior to their designated check in date. This enables accurate sea patterns and weather changes to be monitored and time schedules will be reflective of the safest period of sea travel for all parties concerned. All information is provided with your boating confirmation notification which will be emailed to you 48 hours prior to your stay. Parking location is at the Tairua Marina. Slipper Island Resort will communicate to the person who has made the booking should the sea conditions will have an impact on your period of stay.

  • Any other costs incurred (e.g., missed flights, additional flights) will not be covered and we recommend you have comprehensive travel insurance.

IN THE EVENT OF BAD SEAS-TRAVEL PLAN OPTIONS

In a variation of circumstances not all of the options 1-5 will be offered to the guest.

OPTION ONE:

In the event of bad sea accommodation booked but cancelled by Slipper Island Resort due to sea conditions will receive a refund for the monetary amount they have paid to Slipper Island Resort.

  • Personal expenses incurred- house sitting, vehicle rental, vehicle expenses, boarding kennels, cattery, all flights, alternative accommodation, and loss of income will not be financially reimbursed by Slipper Island Resort in the event of cancellation or postponement.
  • Any other costs incurred (e.g., missed flights, additional flights) will not be covered and we recommend you have comprehensive travel insurance.

OPTION TWO:

In the event of bad seas, accommodation booked but cancelled by Slipper Island Resort due to sea conditions will allow guests the option to defer their accommodation to another period of stay at selected dates of availability within the current financial season.

  • Personal expenses incurred- house sitting, vehicle rental, vehicle expenses, boarding kennels, cattery, all flights, alternative accommodation, and loss of income will not be financially reimbursed by Slipper Island Resort in the event of cancellation or postponement.
  • Any other costs incurred (e.g., missed flights, additional flights) will not be covered and we recommend you have comprehensive travel insurance.

OPTION THREE:

In the event of bad seas, we may not be able to get you off the island on your check out day. If this occurs, the accommodation for an extra night or nights is provided free of charge. The decision to allow you to remain at Slipper Island Resort remains the decision of Sipper Island Management as in some cases management may charter an additional vessel to transport guests off the Island if sea conditions permit safe passage. This option is only available if it does not coincide with other reservations. There will be situations when the sea is impassable for several days and this will be factored into the transport or additional length of stay.

  • Personal expenses incurred- house sitting, vehicle rental, vehicle expenses, boarding kennels, cattery, all flights, alternative accommodation, and loss of income will not be financially reimbursed by Slipper Island Resort in the event of cancellation or postponement.
  • Any other costs incurred (e.g., missed flights, additional flights) will not be covered and we recommend you have comprehensive travel insurance.

OPTION FOUR:

In the event of bad seas, and you are already staying at Slipper Island Resort we may advise that you will need to check out on a selected day or days which will be earlier than the booked check out day. This selected day and time will ensure your boat transfers are completed safely to return guests back to the mainland. The night or nights not stayed will be refunded for the accommodation rate per unit you have paid.

  • Personal expenses incurred- house sitting, vehicle rental, vehicle expenses, boarding kennels, cattery, all flights, alternative accommodation, and loss of income will not be financially reimbursed by Slipper Island Resort in the event of cancellation or postponement.
  • Any other costs incurred (e.g., missed flights, additional flights) will not be covered and we recommend you have comprehensive travel insurance.

OPTION FIVE:

In the event of bad seas and you are already staying at Slipper Island Resort we may advise that to be safely returned to the mainland you will need to be flown by plane off Slipper Island.  Slipper Island Resort will contribute $ variable on a case-by-case basis towards the one-way flight off the Island.  This $ would have been for your trip back to the mainland by boat. This is calculated on the current season rates. Conditions apply.

Airline company will advise of the flight rate on a case-by-case basis.

Airline flights are also reliant on weather conditions affecting their ability to fly.

Flight will be organized by Slipper Island Resort and an Airline company to ensure all flights are completed safely.

  • Personal expenses incurred- house sitting, vehicle rental, vehicle expenses, boarding kennels, cattery, all flights, alternative accommodation, and loss of income will not be financially reimbursed by Slipper Island Resort in the event of cancellation or postponement.
  • Any other costs incurred (e.g., missed flights, additional flights) will not be covered and we recommend you have comprehensive travel insurance.

In a variation of circumstances not all of the options 1-5 will be offered to the guest.

 The decision to cancel due to sea conditions is the responsibility of and can only be made by Slipper Island Resort Management.

Slipper Island Resort will not cancel bookings if the weather is raining, windy, cold, or cloudy unless this affects the sea conditions.

Customers who choose to cancel based on weather conditions have read our cancellation policy terms and conditions.

alternative accommodation and loss of income will not be financially reimbursed by Slipper Island Resort in the event of cancellation or postponement.

We recommend you have comprehensive travel insurance.
